5. Ex-offenders with Violent Backgrounds

Although I know that a small number of people do change through religion or spirituality or years of psychological help, ex-offenders with violent behavior backgrounds are definitely not good bets. Men who are violent tend to stay violent - and that violence turns to you in time. These men will swear up and down to you that they have changed. Most of them have not. Some of their behavior may be modified, but you remember that old “learned behavior” situation that I spoke about earlier. When frustration builds up or anger sets in, expect a reaction based on past experience rather than cognitive or thinking behavior.

You have to question men who have committed violent crimes. I professionally worked with them for over 25 years and saw the patterns that they repeated. A violent crime includes assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault, general assault and murder of any degree. I am not saying that some crimes are not justified, but usually when you find any history of violent behavior, you find a host of other dysfunctional issues included with them.
